question about vats

ok, so i picked up a 91 RS w/ a 305 and 5-spd a little while back, but it has a messed up vats module. my dad and i figured it would be a good idea to learn how to program chips since we have 3 other third gens. instead of payin $200 or however much the crazy amount is to get new vats stuff, i'd much rather just disable it in the programming of the chip. and that beings me to my question...how exactly do i go about doing this? the software im using is the regular, free version of TunerPRO, if that helps out.

thanks,

mike

It's an option bit/flag that you unset in the calibration...

The Search function hasn't been working well for me lately...and since I just burned my 1st chip the other day to do just what your attempting....

With the bin for my car...In TunerPro, I pressed F6....same as View, and show items list.
Under Flags...I went to 1st Air Flow Mode Word...went to the VATS and made it "unchecked". That's all. Saved it, used Flash & Burn to program new chip. Put in car....and my No-Start condition was over after a month of headache. My chip burning investment paid for itself right there. No telling how much a shop would have charged me to track down my problem and then "fix" my VATS.

That's cool smithy- and he also needs to know that he needs the correct ECU file for his .BIN. Load the ECU, load the BIN, follow smithy's instructions.
