CE light/cam problem?

i had a CE light come on when idleing city traffic. read code and was "lean". that was a week ago. car idled terribly(limp mode?) and read rich on WB 12/1. i suspect that occurred(rich) since memcal is from a v6. never swapped it out to v8. BUT car recovers when you come off idle and cruise at 35 mph.
think it could be my cam 224/230 @.05 fooling the 02 and 02 sensor dumps in fuel as it is reading overlap when idleing at 600-700 rpms? on xway at 45-75 mph no issues this morn for a 25 mile ride. or no issues ever when cruising. issue was a short trip to lunch. this has happened twice now. both at idle. second time today. when CE comes on does car automatically go limp(memcal) or does it simply trigger CE? seems car recovers when you get up to cruise speed i will pull codes tonight and up idle to 750. maybe that will give more vacuum.

comments?

ps if it is not the cam my second thought is my Moates g2 zif adapter. last year triggerred a CE as was not making contact or losing contact. my codes were "lean" and "eprom" last week. maybe same tonight, have not yet pulled codes.

Any adapter or plug in device is suspect on our cars.

i ahve experienced all the issues you mentioned and they were either bad contact from zif to memcal/adapter or bad fit from the chip to the zif.

After a few uses I tend to tweak out the pins on a chip so they lock into place tighter.

Weather changes also tend to do some damage as well :-)

Colder out things shrink, hotter they expand, this happens onough they will work loose :-)

OK. thanks. i pulled codes last night. blinky light.
four codes!

1. speed sensor. i have a 7747 that does not allow my mileage distance travelled to be read so maybe that is the code?

2. lean exhaust. my wide band shows erratic A/F when at prolonged idle. spikes lean/rich.

3. ECU. this code is specific for ECU. prom code not showing? i did get a rapidly flashing CE so i believe that is characteristic of prom connection?

4. coolant sensor. my A/F as mentioned goes erratic at idle 600-700. A/F is fine on xway last night. have no idea how old this sensor is? may be original. will replace tonight.

do you see any coorelation between the 4?
