pocket programmer not working

Okay

I bought a used pocket programmer II off ebay. Tonight I hooked it up on 3 different computers and using fileprom.exe I get the message "pocket programmer not found on LPT1 2 or 3.
Am I missing something obvious or did I get burned..

Sincerely appreciate ANY help.

TIA

Jack

What setting is your port on?
From Xtronics website; "Note EPP, ECP power management (both CMOS and config.sys) should be turned off."
I've never had a problem with ECP in windows XP so it might be that you just got burned. Take the programmer apart and look for parts that might have had the smoke let out. It's easy to fry these programmers with reverse polarity on the power input, chips inserted incorrectly, etc.
Worst case you send it out to xtronics to get fixed. They're relatively reasonable with the repair costs .

I dont have XP but tried ecp, spp, in both win98 real dos mode, heck I even tried booting dos6.2. I'll double check power mgmt settings but I think its dead. I'm calling xtronics tomorrow and see what they say. Looks like after a repair bill I'll be into alittle more that buying it new I sent a email to the seller about spittling the repair bill but having heard back yet...I'll take it apart and at least ohm out the cable after I've heard from him. 83 transactions for me and this is the first time I've had trouble. I fully expected to have problems learning to learing how to tune but wasnt expecting this.. thanks for the reply.
