anyone know where i can find a diagram on how to build a aldl cable for a 160 baud 1228746 ecm thats very easy to understand i can solder decently but it hard for me to understand the schematics of it.

You want to build the second schematic, pay attention to the numbers on the pins not the relative position on the plug. The schematic is drawn as if you were looking at the plug end nut the pin end that you solder to.

I like to use the 2 transistor design. See Rbob's responses in this post for schematics and build pictures. It works with 160 and 8192 baud ALDL comms.

k i just went to radio shack and got the stuff layed out in this article...http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl160/aldl_hw.htm
will this one work for the 160 baud to datalog for mine?? or is this just some type of code scanner cause it seems much simpler than all the others ive seen? also i know this is a dumb question but like in the schematic w/ they show a line from the e or a or what ever port from the diagnostic link then show the squiggle or whatever for the resistors do i just use any kind of wire to connect the resistor to that point or do i just saulder it straight to it its hard to explain but if anyone gets what im sayin?? never built anything like that b4 just have simple solder skills and the tools to do it but never done a whole lot other than replacing messed up resistors or compacitors so if someone could make me a dummy schematic or somethin i could understand it would really help if not if u could just explain it to me in begginers language that would be great too.

Keep in mind that you DON'T need the 10k resistor going between pin A and B. Only the TPI's with the 165 ecm need this. Other than that your good to go.

k can someone tell me if this one is wright cause i understand and have all the parts i need to build this one...there is only one difference though i dont have the resistor in between a and b and the 12 v is gonna be commin from the h port on the car is this right well heres the schematic to look at thanx guys just let me know if this one will work on my 160 baud 1228746 ecm $61

You need to use the second schematic on that link that I posted earlier. It doesn't need an external 12 volt source. You also don't need the 10k resistor between A and B, just leave it open.
