I have no clue what pins are from that transistor. Base, Collector, Emitter, you need to be sure you don't mix up the Collector and Emitter! There is an arrow inside the circle that represents the Emitter... it's no in your drawing but is in the one displayed on the main winaldl site.

okay i think i got that part right cause i remember looking at it several times what happens if i dont have it on the right side?? its not gonna hurt anything will it, it just wont work im assuming. i will look tonight when i get home i know its flat on half the circle and thats how u tell which side is the emitter etc. but i dont have the box it came in some im not sure but like i say im pretty sure i got that part right. the only thing i was worried about is all the diagrams ive seen has two emitters usually and a pin goin to the 12v on the aldl port and a pin goin to the ground on the aldl. im not using an led so i though i would just wire it to the positive on the serial which is what i think i did but like i said its been awhile so im not positive. i just dont wanna mess somethin up on my car or laptop. thanks

From your image, it would be incorrect. Look at the db9 pin-out from the link I just posted. Use the 2nd schimatic, the one that doesn't get it's +12v from the car but instead the serial port. It uses pins 2, 4, and 5, not 1, 2, and 4 unless you're counting from right to left and not left to right. The serial connector should have it's pins labled!

well i can only go to .orgs at work but ill take a look at it when i get to the house and if its just a matter of the wrong pins then i will just rearange them instead of having to desolder and resolder pins should be a simple 2 minute job.

okay i just looked at it again and i am using pins two four and five on the nine pin serial the only things that dont match up to that diagram is i didnt solder a wire to connect to the ground on the diagnostics port and i didnt use that extra resistor brige e to a (Q4) cause it says carbed vehicles only...so does that mean all i need to do is solder a gound wire to connect to the diagnostics port or do i not need one just like the power?? thanks for the help thats the exact diagram i was looking for its what i made it from the first time i dont know why i would leave off the ground wire.

You need that ground wire and don't need that extra resistor for the ccc's.
