Which chip to get started?

OK, I've got a 7730 coming for the nightmare (91 Caprice wagon, 305 out-350 in, Edelbrock TBI to MPFI kit, swapped out the 7746 to 7747, car goes into full-on limp mode, won't rev off idle, codes give me bad ECM/PROM), and I need to know what chip I need to get it running and be able to read what its doing. Is there a particular chip I should start with? The 7730 is coming without a chip.

Thanks!

For the 7730, order a #16151348 from GM.
It's a stock 90-92 Camaro 350 TPI AT chip.
About $53 from www.GMpartsdirect.com

Based on what you started with, your going to have to do some repinning to hook up a 7730.

Yup. Got that chart and am planning on spending a few nights during the holiday(CHRISTMAS!) break.

Thanks so much for the practically instant reply. This board is AWESOME!

I've done this wap but in a truck and the 350 was a zz4. It took less than 2 hours to re-pin the ecm. What took so long was labeling the wires. I didn't think it necessary but they wanted to be absolutely sure they could fall back. After they were all done labeling I told them about the colors on the wires .
Then came the bypass on the ESC. We didn't change the knock sensor so we added a resistor. With some electrical tap it's ALL good. Tuning was really easy even without the IAT sensor. Still has no IAT sensor but we're planning on adding it in the spring.
Depending on your engine you might want to look into upgrading the injectors. The stock kit comes with 19# injectors. Hardly enough for even a mild 350.

I've got the stock 305 knock sensor in it. Should I change it to the 350, or is it the same part? What size resistor did you install, and do I need to bypass the ESC? I've got the IAT hooked up and mounted in the modified Caddy air cleaner, and I intend to use all the sensors. Just need to get it running, and then I can start tuning!

Thanks!

JPrevost- as far as injectors go, I'm not trying to make this a tire fryer. Its the family hauler, and the wife will be driving it the most. Its a cool looking long roof, and it needs to be a smooth running, reliable, reasonable mileage car the she can get into and not worry about. I need to post some pics- its done up pretty good, but not gaudy. Gets TONS of thumbs ups from all kinds of enthusiasts, from the Impala SS guys (of which I am one-95 DGGM), to the Mustang guys (Of which I am one-66 convert, 5.0/AOD, R&P, 4 wheel disc, etc), and even the import guys.

Thanks again!

Darryl
