Dumb Question.....

Does it matter which way the chip goes into the Zif socket? I did all of this de-soldering and soldering and was all proud of myself... then i realize..... I dont know which way the chip should sit. I asume the numbers should be facing the same way as the ones on the limp home chips.

U shoulda called me Mike.

U did that the hard way :-) Its cheaper but not something I enjoy after doing two.

The adapter boards are the way to fly and no hacking on your memcal.

The "clippie locates the chippie" Its lame but remember the notch goes with the hold down clip on the zif socket when u have them modded like yours

later

never fear... I havent pluged the memcal into anything yet. Thanks for the clippy thing jeremy.. that should be easy to remember. And as for hacking up the memcal... bah. It was easy to make this thing and way cheaper than geting an adapter. The real thing to do would have been to keep the Jet addapter I had in my old 89' instead of selling it for 5 bux here a couple years ago O well.... I didnt know at the time I could use it with this diy stuff. All I have to do now is wire in the 165 this weekend and pray I didnt screw anything up.

The "clippie locates the chippie"
FYI
That would depend on which way it was put on.
I just mark mine with an paint pen the wife has for crafts.
A "1" on the correct end saves confusion if I don't look at it for 3 months. The AP & my adapter are opposites.

But in my case, the clip and notch would be correct right?

I don't know where the clip is on your setup. I use the black zifs.
But the notch on my spare 730 memcal faces to the out side.
Not sure on the 165's.

If you installed it in your PPII as is. The memcal would hit the handle correct?
