Problems with getting first chip to work HELP!
Yes ive searched, and i have the actual burning of the chip down to a process: load buffer, set offsets, verify blank, program, verify
Equipment: Burn1, G2 adapter, ZIF socket, AT29C256 flash chips
ECM: 8746
So heres the deal i have the whole thing setup and i have all the drivers on the programmer set correctly and the device works, the chips burn, and i know they work because i can read the chips into the buffer, when i open the bin in the hex editor the bin is located at the very end of the chip: from 007000--->007FFF... i put this into the car... didnt work
Now i assumed that maybe this isnt the correct offset, so i stacked the bin 4k bin, 8times, = 32kb in tunerpro to a new file, uploaded that file to the buffer and burned that, verified and tried to run it in the car... didnt work
Now should i be leaning toward maybe the ECM i have the G2 on is a faulty ECM? I am rechecking my soldering of the adapter into the ECM right now and everything looks fine... so if anyone has any ideas for me im basically pulling my hair out over this trying to get this first chip to work.
EDIT: I checked over the way my father put the g2 into the ZIF and it was 1 pin off... i made fun of him for a little bit for it haha im super stoked and cant wait to tune this thing completely... should be badass

Are you installing the prom correctly into the ZIF or DIP? Can you post a pic of the prom installed in the g2 adaptor.
I didnt see that. You are putting the G2 into the ZIF and not the ZIF into the G2?

Someone like dimented or Jprevost might chime in since they are TBI guys. The only other info i can offer is info from the pictures on Moates.net with the G2 installation.
1) The side of the G2 adaptor that has the resistor should be facing the other IC chip on the daughter board.
2) The side of the G2 adaptor with the resistor should be overhanging the the PCB.
3) The AT29C256 chip should have the "notch" and/or the white triangle pointing pointing to the side of the daughterboard that contains the other IC chip.
If you know all this, then im sorry. Just trying to help b/c you seem to have the burning part right.
good luck
