Yep, sure could build it yourself. Its just a typical LED driver circuit, that they hacked into an ecm, on the output side of the O2 signal amp.

I beleive Joby posted a schematic before, I think its a National Semi. LM3914? then check ludis' site for your ecm schematics, and tap into the output of the O2 amplifier, where ever it is on the main board. You'd have to check out the signal to see what the nominal voltage is, to set up the swing of the LED's

that being said, the narrow band O2 sensor meters aren't very useful, other than watching them swing back and forth; meaning, you can't really tune by them accurately.

 

Bill and I have an AF meter that follows the non-linearity of the stock sensor. We sell kits as well as just the bare board.

The WB is somewhat linear by comparison - you could actually use our same PCB but use LM3914's instead of LM3915's and it would work with the WB.
