Manual - auto tranny eprom on a 4288?
Ok, I found the answer to one of my questions on the location of the code for a manual tranny in a 4288 AO mask but still have some more questions.
From what I've read there is also some of the code for the transmissions in the limp home chip...is this correct? I luckily found 2 4288's ecm's, one for a auto (been using) and one for a manual and wanted to also ask if there was anything different from the or on the ECM BOARDS or are they the same with the exception of the chips. If they are the same I will know to get the limp home chips from now on also instead of just the eprom.
Is there any way to just look at the limp home chip and tell if it is a auto or manual limp home???? I have a list that has limp home part numbers on it but does not tell what the other 4 digits stamped around the corners of limp chip are for.
One last thing....do I have to have 12 v source on the ECM pin A7 which would be for the shift light or can I leave it off? Not sure if the ecm has to have this feed or not. I'm beginning to see that it has to have one for the P/N on auto for sure.
Thanks in advance for any info.
