I don't have a clue what I need
Never had any experience with PROMs or anything, I have searched throught the archives for info though. I have nothing to begin "promming". I visited Moates and TunerPro websites. Can someone tell me what I need to get started? TunerPro, this is just the program, correct? I have a new laptop, more than the system requirements for thr program. I still need someway of connecting to the car? Do I plug into th ecm or Diagnostic port under steering wheel? Like I said , clueless, but very interested. Looking to LIGHTLY modify stock prom (L03 '89 RS). Thanks-

You need a burner (I use Pocket Programmer 2), software to read/edit/implement the changes (TunerPro),and a communications cable to connect to your diag port under your steering wheel. You'll make a couple runs around the "hood", come back and review. Make your edits, burn, and rerun. Over and over and over and over until you get the results you deem acceptable.

thank you for help, Do I need a pocket programmer just to view engine data? Can I plug my laptop to a ALDL cable and adapter via USB? I'd like to learn my program and get numbers and things a while before I think about burning chips.

to see the data you need a program, I.E. winaldl, TunerPro or one of the others out there, & a cable that plugs in to your laptop.
the pocket programmer is for burning & not needed to get to the data steam.
