static injecotrs

I dont quite understand what "injectors going static" is. I cruize in my car, i crank the radio full blast, i jam the pedal to da flow, and no static at all. All i know is late at night, i hear them say, Katchem and kill'em. The only thing i know to do for that is crank my fuel and spark curves so that i can.

Static also means, not moving, ie the injector is always on.

The problem with *going* static, is as the injector goes from 90% DC to 100%, the injector starts *missing a beat*. Since the off periods aren't long enough, the injector *hangs* closed. So just when you need it most, it goes slightly lean before going full rich.

(Hoping you just not wasting BW, with this question)

so its BPW (135) plus injector bias (488) and both fuel maps combined can go over 90% duty cycle then right?
----------
what is the difference between the BPW and injector bias? arent they the same thing? im needin a 40 right about now
----------
dont everyone talk at once now.

As you can tell from the data im presenting to you, this chip puts the 4.3L (which is what i have) @ 92% VE and has the BPW of 181 and injector bias of 488, so how can my bin be putting the injectors "static" if my values are less?

The most accurate way of telling weither your going static, is by data logging.
Or building an ecm bench, and being able to run the .bin to see where you are.
I'm sure some around here, *could* do the math, but gads, that would be alot of work.

100% VE doesn't mean the injectors are static. It just means that the engine is inhaling the amount of air to fill the engine 100%.

the problem is haus...is@ WOT from 4000 to 6000 rpms i get a drop on the 02 readings lets say 850 mv down to 700 mv at a steady rate, sometimes the 02 read blank like less dan 300 mv @ 5000 rpms, i cannot seem to straiten it out, it does run good @ 900 mv WOT though, what ive been trying for WOT is PE AFR setting it at various settings but i cant confirm that that is making it richer or leaner @ WOT at 4000 roms.
----------
unless i really am having that static problem

i have found various sized springs i have in da garage, and they are WAY stiffer than the stock fuel pressure spring GM uses in there TBI cars, im giving it serious thought to running 20-30 psi fuel pressure and just back off da maps a tad, hell i dunno, for a stock L03 with this large solid lifter camshaft, it sure is givin my WOT fits

Thanks MOD. I thought this post was going somewhere, then it didn't. Besides when has a 4.3L been in a third gen? If people are gonna be guests, they should act like guests.

I have an 88 camaro that came with *279* injectors which acording to all the sites ive read, the 4.3L trucks cames with bigger injectors. I dont remember the number, possibly *203*but the sites told me 40 lbs/hr for the 5.0L and 43 lbs/hr for the 4.3L. Now, im not sure if my injectors were going *static* or something, but i do know that no matter how high i cranked the fuel maps it didnt make any difference on the 02 readings @ WOT. now, currently i used a massive spring in my fuel regulator and i had to turn the BPW way down so it wouldnt soot foul my spark plugs. i think now my tunning of the fuel maps will make a noticable difference, and i wont have to strangle my fuel injectors. and im still trying to figure out how to use ASYNC @ WOT. i know it turns on on deceleration between certain rpms. thank you

The 5.0 has 55 lb/hr injectors in it. The 4.3 has 45 lb/hr injectors in it. The only 4.3 that has different flow rates are the HO 4.3 TBI in the Astro/Safari vans. They use 1 55 lb/hr injector and 1 61 lb/hr (350) injector. I have robbed many sets of them for 305/350 projects.

Unfortunately most of these values are incorrect. They all started at the same place: diy-efi, way back in 90-something, and have propagated all over the net. Funny how once something is posted not only does it endlessly propagate, it can never be corrected.

Hey, it's the Internet! How can it be wrong.

Many years ago I did a fairly complete ECU for the '747 ECM. There was errors in the 3D VE table. It was pivoted, and missing the 90 & 100 KPa rows. Do you know how many times I've posted corrections for that? And it still comes up and goofs people up. Even after releasing a new ECU, the old one is all over the place and everyones ignores the new one.

As for these injectors, the real values are:

5.0L 1-13/16" Green/White 55 lb/hr GM 5235279 *RPD
5.7L pickup 1-13/16" Orange/Black 61 lb/hr GM 5235206 *RPD
5.7L Cop Car 1-13/16" Yellow/Brown 65 lb/hr 17084327-ACR?
5.7L Cop Car 1-13/16" Yellow/Brown 68 lb/hr 17084327-ACR?

The yel/brn's came in two flow rates dependent upon the MY. Not sure of the etched numbers.

big block pickup 2" Dark Red/Dark Blue 81 lb/hr GM 5235231 *RPD

cool dude cool, i think that 55's are plenty for what im doing, i always thought they were 40's and i wanted to toss them, the 4.3L tb i have runs different.....cant tell if its faster or slower, guess ill have to track it . now both have way higher fuel pressure, im fairly sure the origanal tb and 20 psi runs the best
