LC-1 Initializing Problems

I have the LC-1 module under my car, it's strapped to the side of the tranny with the wiring going back up thru the shifter hole. Seems to work fine there other than the start-up problem I've had with mine since Day #1 (Oct. of last year).

Does anyone else's LC-1 start the heating cycle and then error out and have to be power cycled to heat up again? Mine does, almost every start. It's so bad I've had to install a toggle switch in the power feed wire just so I don't have to re-start the car 2 or 3 times every time I go somewhere and want to watch the AFR on my XM-1 guage.

I've talked to INNOVATE 3 times over this since I got the sensor from Moates late last year, and they suggested re-calibrating everything. Done that, no difference. So before I raise a fuss with them, thought I'd see if anyone else has run across this possible "feature" of the LC-1..... especially before the warranty runs out on this unit!

I wonder if it is a low voltage thing that causes the LC-1 to error. I don't own an LC-1 so I can't be much help. Have you tried using a different battery and/or starter? Sometimes electronics have a fit when the voltage drops down during cranking. You could also try powering the LC-1 off a seperate battery to see if the problem goes away.

If it does go away then either you have an electrical problem or Innovative has a poor design. Have you recorded ALDL data while cranking? If so, what is the min. battery volts?

Neither the battery nor the starter have been changed since I got the LC-1. I also haven't tried data logging while cranking. Think I'll do that and maybe rig up a relay direct feed from the battery for the power source and see if that makes any difference. Got to get the car back together first (fighting my split BLM problem, but hopefully have found the problem - in another thread). Thanks for the reply and suggestions!

Give it a try. You will see how bad the battery is going down and also what the crank BPWs are in case you want to mess with them. I usually ALDL Log key-on, crank, idle to look at the transients from the different modes. This also will give you the ambient temp. from the MAT/IAT (in case you forget to take notes). The BPWs and Batt_voltage are most important to me during crank. If I had a better power source for my DIY WBO2, the AFR would be rather interesting too.
Good luck with the split BLM thing.
