6E cranking/startup spark. Base plus what else?
Hi guys, I am curious what spark comes into play during 1. cranking and 2. startup on my 6E '165 MAF system. During cranking do I have just base timing or is there another adder? I know the startup spark kicks in when the engine actually starts and then decays out. If only base timing is active during cranking then can't I set the base timing on my highly modified setup to whatever starts easiest, then tell the prom what that base timing is so all its spark calculations are correct? Thanks!

What you say sounds right to me. Base timing ONLY, ONLY for cranking.
Be careful about going too high. You may find that hot or cold starts may kick back on the starter some. I'd say keep it under 15 degrees (if you're looking for ballpark), but that's not based on any sbc. But, since you have the ability to program, then it's only a matter of time before you find something that's acceptable.
Afterstart timing is an offset with a quick decay.
