Need help to drive my car again!!!!
Need help to drive my car again!!!!
Well wouldnt you know it. My key got stuck in the ignition lock just like most chevys before it. Anyway i bought a lock for an 88 instead of an 89 cause it was cheaper ($60 vs. $20) and the one for vats had some type of wiring to disable vats anyway. It fits in there fine except it wont push in farther so i can turn it back to listen to the radio (i dont care about that). Anyway i disabled vats with my ostrich and the car still wont start. Has anyone had this kind of problem. It doesnt matter if the vats box is checked or unchecked. It wont even crank. Please someone help me. I'm starting to hate this car.
It sounds like to me that your passkey system is dissabling the car from starting.I am not for sure how you are able to shut off the passkey portion of your ecm,but you are experiencing a no start due to this. There is a theft enable relay on your car which I do not know the exact location. The problem with passkey cylinders over time the wires will wear at the cylinder and eventually break.I have replaced a lot of them.I do not know if this will help,is there a security light staying on?I know on cadillacs it will stay on when it cannot read the resistor pellot in the key.
I am sorry you haved what I believe is the original passkey system which has nothing to do with the ecm.It is seperate, which just dissables starting only.Newer ones dissable starting and fuel.I stated that you were able to stop this at ecm which is incorrect.
I found out what it was. Thanks to searching through hundreds of posts it turns out I needed to ground the starter relay which is what the VATS module does. It runs now but the Security light stays on and my hatch motor wont go up or down (i dont know if the hatch motor has anything to do with the vats system, i just think everything bad happens to me all at once.) Fix one thing, break two. Thats my life story. Anyone know where i can get that white plastic piece that holds the horn contact? I broke it when i had it apart.
