Good Baseline Bin For a ZZ4-cammed 5-speed Car?
Hi all,
I have decided to jump into the world of tuning and burning my own chips. The victim is my '88 Monte SS, into which has been transplanted a factory '165 ECM and harness from an '87 IROC. This setup has powered the car flawlessly for 6 years with a mildly cammed 305.
My new engine is basically a budget-built ZZ4. I'm using World Products S/R Torquer 305 heads (58cc chambers, 1.94/1.50 valves); they're basically a cast iron version of the L98 Vette head. With 11cc dished hyper pistons set .025 in the hole and an .039 headgasket, my compression ratio is right around 9.8:1. I also picked up a new takeout ZZ4 cam. Other mods are roller rockers, SLP runners, ported plenum, and LT1 24 lb. injectors. I'm going to fire this motor up and break it in (with any luck) this weekend.
That being said, what's a good baseline bin to start editing from? Something like an '89 6-speed Vette bin? I will be using TunerPro, and have looked at some bin files just to get myself familiar with the program. GM specs on the ZZ4 crate motor call for 10* base timing, and 32* total to be in my 4K rpms. If I wanted to make these changes, what timing tables need adjustment?
TIA!

I used a stock AXXD '92 305 TPI 5-speed chip with mine, but that wont work for you. Any '89 5-speed TPI G92 chip will work the best, but I dont know those codes, sorry.

Well, my next question is; if I start with a 305 bin and change the injector constant to 24, will the MAF tables be really far off for my 355, or will it work well enough to break in a fresh motor?

Thanks Mangus! I didn't realize I was using your program to do my editing.
What a noob!
So, I've made a few changes to the ANZA bin in preparation for my initial startup. Changed injector constant to 24, changed fan turn-on/off temps (on at 200, off at 185), unchecked the AIR valves (since I have !AIR and !cat), flagged Manual trans, and turned off the VATS.
Can you think of anything else I'll need to change right away?
