New chip is AWESOME!

Well fellas... After I burned my very first custom chip tonite... I went and did 2 1/4 mile runs run on the g-tech. First was a 14.2 at 98mph. Second was a 13.6 at 103 mph (both were with a lot of spin since hey.. it's still wet outtehre from all that rain). This is with minor "blind" tuning. I didnt put it on the Diacom yet to see what needs to be finetuned. I fell I can be solidly in the mid 13s with the headers and more tuning.

Well I just nodified the Jet Stage 2 bin I got off the chip that was my car for the last year or so. No Diacom runs yet and I run #22 stock (84K mile) injectors. Today I installed my Edelbrock headers and all I can say is Daaaaaaaaaymn!! Big differnce in throtle response and high RPM pull. I'll get some Diacom runs tonite and post

Blade,

No offence but ... Imagine if you put REAL headers on that car The Edelbrock headers have SMALL dual diameter primaries (1-1/2" and 1-5/8"). These are way too small for a nicely built 350. They have good fit/finish but definitely aren't the best for performance. The 350s should always get the 1-3/4" primary headers.

I've seem some nice gains by individuals who use to have the Edelbrock headers on a nicely built 350 and then switched to the 1-3/4 SLPs. Very nice performance difference. The 1-3/4 headers have 36% more area in the primary tubes as compared to the 1-1/2" tubes. That's a lot of extra flow.

Gunning for NA 11's after installing Hooker LT Headers and reducing weight.

Yea but see... these were only 100 bucks. Got a REAL good deal on em (they were new!). Now compare the price of SLPs at almost 400... For me, the extra 5 HP (if that)that SLPs will give me is not worth 300 bucks

$100? That's a nice deal

However, expect more than a 5hp difference on a modified car. I'll be gaining around 20hp (conservative) from swapping my 1-5/8" SLP shorty's to 1-3/4" Hooker SuperComp long tubes with the 3" Y-pipe and the 4" catback. I would expect to see only 5hp on a stock thirdgen ... but not on a modified thirdgen.

Good point... but then again I would have to have monster airflow coming out of those exhaust ports and that aint happening with my stock heads. Hehehe... Until I can afford some AFRs, I wont bother with different headers. I wanna do chips for now! Besides... If, someday, I could afford a pair of AFRs, I'm sure a pair of SLPs woudlnt be a problem either. Hehe
