Datarase II How long to leave on?

How long does it take to erase a 27c256 eprom with a datarase II?

Anywhere from 7 to 15 minutes. I usually put mine in for about 12 minutes. In most cases it depends on the EPROM manufacturer AND on the age of your UV bulb.

Some of my chips erase in 3 minutes some in about 7 minutes. Some may even take 15.

I must've had some stubborn ones then, I just did a couple the other night and they took about 20 minutes! I was almost convinced they were bad, but let them sit a while longer after a 10-minute erasure didn't clear them out. Sure enough though, they erased and took the re-program fine. They were TI chips, probably 10-15 years old.. I think I pulled them from a '286 board a while back.

I have the Datarase on the longest setting and do them twice. At times that doesn't do it. I buy used ones so at a buck a piece I dont phart around with them. The first erase of a used one can take 3 tries.

Just dont put them in there too long. I forgot about two of mine and left them in the eraser for one night. LOL

As you might have guess they were very well erased. And they stayed that way too... Cant program em anymore. lol
