ALDL and TunerPro
I have a single transistor aldl cable that I built for ue with WinLDLD. It works very well for that purpose, and I get excellent connectivity.
I can also use tunerpro with the cable. The cathc:
tha car can't be running.
AS soon as the car is running, the data beins to scramble. It is almost like it is having trouble syncing with the data stream. Occasionally, the numbers will be right, but only for one or two refreshes. Even the PROM id changes.
Any idea? Tha car is 160 baud, it is an 85 f body, with the 6870 ECM.
Thanks

Cut off the serial connectors and splice in some high quality CAT5. That should work.

Today i went to radioshack and bought everything that i needed.
I ripped out my old cable, which was half-assed with spare parts, more of a proof-of-concept type thing.... It didn't even have a board, the components were all soldered directly to one another, in a little rats nest of wires.
Then, I built a new cable with all new components on a pc board. I also included a voltage regulator to be sure that the voltage is exactly 12 volts. The new cable uses CAT5 cable, shielded twisted pair. Fired up the car, took her for a test drive, and booted up. Tunerpro works perfectly now
Immediatly, I am very impressed with the versatility of tunerpro. I went through and set all my alarms. Good stuff.
Thanks Mangus!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to shield a single wire? With my Dakota Digital box I suspect I'm picking up some occasional noise that causes my speedo and the ECM to see 255 count spikes. I hate to think I need to use CAT5 cable for all my signal wires....
