3.1 V6 question......
Hi all, i normally reside in the V6 forum but i think i need help from you lot now, my problem seems to be computer related.
my car has a nasty hesitation type fault, iv just found the term "idle roll" and think it relates. is there a way to get the computer re programmed to cancel out fueling on over run ie when you come off the gas so i can get engine braking immediatly when i come off the gas, at the moment when you come off the gas, as you slow down the car starts to buck, also it does this if you change throttle position. so if im acceleration and leave the throttle at say half way, then when the engine comes off load then if i change the position to say 3/4 it will buck. its seems ok if you just stomp on it and thrash it. rolling along on idle is a big no no.
there is a few off us on the v6 board with this issue and it seems to be only the 5 speed manual that it happens. maybe its with all 3.1's but the manual trans just magnifies the problem.
i have changed all the sensors and cap rotor coil etc.

Hey rexer,
I am usually in the v6 forum as well, but after tonight I did a road test on my 90 v6 auto.I hooked up my scanner and drove a good 5-9 mile test drive first few miles without stopping...last few I hit a couple of lights.I was focusing on the O2 volts.I noticed when I let off the gas the voltage went to 0 and stayed there for a bit until I touched the gas or waited till it gradually started to richin up.When I came home ,I shut it off and rechecked my voltage just with key on..engine off... started to climb to 900.(like it was rich)Then started it and it went into open loop at a idle just after driving it? ..why would it go into open loop??.I just read in other post that if you have a bosch O2 its not compatable ,which I do.I also read that a heated O2 is the way to go.I was told part no.AC DELCO AFS74 is a heated O2 and waiting to see if its a plug-in to our vehicles.or may hit the local store and see what it looks like.If its not... an AC DELCO brand is a better choice. This maybe related to the problems your having...just a thought.I was bouncing back and forth with 91TEALRS on the v6 forum and I think hes looking into the computer reprogram method.Havent heard nothing on his end yet.
Just peeked at this AFS74 O2 sensor and its three wire set up..anybody got a simple wiring schematic for a one-wire O2 to a heated 3-wire O2??...
