Q about Hack abbreviations

theres quite a few in there i was wondering about

BR -?? as in "BR IF L.T. or E.Q. TPS"
LT -Less Than? E.Q. - Equal?
GT - greater than?
PU -? "200 Deg c THRES FOR PK to DRIVE (1K PU)"
PK ?
FM -?

Im guessing BR is a form of "do not do" or something just looking by the context in which its written

i know TMR is timer, lmt-limit, and so on was just wondering about these other ones

In one of the old assembler languages I use to work with MANY MOONS AGO, "BR" meant "Branch" which is the same as "Goto or Jump".

"PK" could mean "Park" as in "Park and Drive".

"FM", I would have to see the whole hack, but possibly "from".

I've seen the term hack used several times on this board.
What is a hack and what is it used for???

a hack is basically a breakdown of the code on a chip for a given ecm, each ecm has its own code, in that code, specific tables and values and such are given different addresses ,different structures , and so on

the Hack is just that, its a hack of the code, and every address (or many of them rather) have been deciphered and all collected into one large paper

this page has a few hacks in adobe format, the 7747 ($42)hack for example is 193 pages long, so there is alot of information. It takes some time to get used to how the hack is written but i just kept looking back at it until i understood more and more

Ok, speaking of abbreviations, what does "LV8" stand for? It comes up quite often in the $32B hack, usually in ref to ignition tables or knock retard.

I'm slowly working my way through this hack(it's only 272 pages long ), and I think I'm finally getting a grip on it.

You have a 32B hack??? I'd like a copy [email]intech@writeme.com[/email ... anyway LV8 is short for load value(I don't know what the 8 is for)

Thanks for the answer. Noting your raised eyebrows regarding the $32B hack, I double-checked to make sure that's what I had. Turns out it's only ID'ed as "$32", vice "$32B".

I assume there's some difference?

I've had this hack for about 5 days from the "ECM Guy"(see Pablo's link above).

Speaking of abbreviations,... in the MAF tables I assume "FCB" means "File Control Block". Does "BIN" refer in some way to memory allocated. The values for "BIN" increment by 64 for each row of the MAF tables.

If the assembler language is similar to other langauges I've worked with "FCB" means "Fixed Constant Byte" and "FDB" means "Fixed Double Byte". There are no files in these programs so it can't mean "File Control Block". Thats is an old DOS term for file handling.

"BIN" means "binary" as in the extension .BIN is a "binary file".

Thanks for the explanations Glenn. I bought some books on assembly language programming years ago, but never really got into it. Guess I'll have to dig those out and reacquaint myself with the vernacular.

One last question, not related to abbreviations. The $32 hack has 6 MAF tables, which I understand the workings of. However, table 6 has me a little curious. This table is 17 rows long(the other five tables have 9 rows), and it seems like the last 9 rows are redundant. At row 8 almost all the values have maxed out(FCB = 255, Gms/sec = 254, BIN = 1648, VDC = 4.71 & #/hr = 1960). In succeeding rows, BIN(incr. 16) and VDC(incr. .045 V) continue to increase, even though the FCB counts(255) and airflow(Gms/sec & #/hr) remain constant. In the final row, BIN = 1792 and VDC = 5.12. Is there any reason for including the last 9 rows? Does the fact that VDC can increase past the point of max airflow(254 Gms/sec) have any relevance or usefullness?<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
