How hard is it to burn a custom chip???
Ok, I've never burned a custom chip or even thought about burning one myself so I'm new to this! First, where can I get a chip burner...the kind that hooks up to the home PC and also, the blank chips?? Second, is it easy to learn how to burn a chip?? Where would be a good place to look for info on burning a chip....either online or in a book!! If you know a web address or book that helps with this please let me know! Third, can I screw up the ECM completely by putting a badly burned chip into it?? And I guess my last question is this.....what is the price comparison between buying a chip and buy the materials to burn my own chips??

Soon to upgrade to a 327 TPI with pocket ported 64CC heads, comp cam, TPI air foil, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, possibly bigger injectors!
Current project: Keeping my car running until I get the money for the above mentioned project! :-)

This is your lucky day. There is a great article by Traxion at this link https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml that contains virtually ALL the answers to all the questions you just asked.
I highly recommend to go to every link that Traxion put in the article including ECMGUY and Bruce Plecan (aka Grumpy). It also has various links to burners, editors, erasers and eproms. Also, it tells you a variety of methods to burn onto a chip. Lots of choices, probably your next question will be to ask people what they recommend.
I also suggest to go to the "Topic display" on the top of the main page for the PROM board and set it to "1 year" and look at some of the oldest posts of how to start. I actually read everything from the oldest to the most recent (in that order) and had 99% of all my questions asked.
Lastly, search on "Grumpy" for all of his posts on all boards. He's the wizard.
