EPROM eraser

Isn't the eraser just a strong uv light? if so than why not make your own? and what happens if you leave it on really long?

just Dataraser II with the timer is convient.
Ugh, gets really hot?.
If you mean *over erasing* chips just cuts down on the read erase cycles.

There is also a risk from exposure to UV light itself, especially to your eyes.
