can't figure out how to keep car in open loop
Hey guys. Trying to get some information on how to keep my car in open loop for fuel tuning? I'm using the 1227165 32b ECM. I have tuner cat and am using a wideband for actual AFR's. Problem I'm having is that when tuning the fuel map in closed loop the AFR's swing all over the place. Wanted to mention to that I am using the Ostrich as well for real time emulation. Is there a way to keep the car in open loop mode? Can't figure it out in tuner cat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. In tuner cat I cant find that C/L temp theshold. Was wondering if their is some other paramater in tuner cat. I searched through the threads for hours now and can't find one on tuner cat. Their is a cold, warm, and hot O2 timer and was wondering if that effects open and closed loop?

I've yet to see a TC file that didn't have it.

I can not find a C551. I'm using Hex Workshop and it just tells me the search string can not be found. Any other ideas as to where it would be. I've emailed cats and asked them with no response. Don't know it there just busy or ignoring me, probably the latter. Thanks for staying with the post though.

Change it to say FD.
It's a holiday season, some people like to take time off from work.

TC got back to me and emailed me the latest version of my bin which now has the CL temp switch. Funny i just purchased the program a month ago, oh well. Thanks for your time and patience. You can guarantee you'll be hearing from me again, since i'm very knew to this. Going blind to from all the reading and searching of the various post. Great stuff though.

Hank-
I'm tuning with 32b as well, and I have the same problem, no closed loop switch is listed. You stated that you are now working with a different bin that has the closed loop switch? Are you still using 32b with the new bin? Or are you using 6E now?

tuner cat emailed me the updated definition. Yes i'm still using the 32B with the closed loop temp switch. I am also working with the 6E to see which is easier and think both are a major payne.

Your last statement has me a little confused. 32b and 6E are both definition files, meaning that they are essentially filters that allow you to read/write portions of the code contained within the appropriate bin files. You had previously stated that the folks at TunerCat had sent you a new bin. Now it sounds more like they sent you a new definition file. Did they send you an altered version of the 32b definition file?
I think that though you may be able to read your bin with either 32b or 6E, that only the appropriate bin/defintion file pair will give you the correct read/write results.
I believe that 32b works correctly for only 1987/1988 bins. 6E works correctly for only 1989 bins.
At least that's my understanding thus far...
