Anyone reprogrammed an MEFI-3???
Anyone reprogrammed an MEFI-3???
My friend is looking into the RamJet 350 from GMPP and was wondering if there is a way to reprogram the MEFI-3 ECM. I assume it uses EEPROM's or Flash memory due to its small size. Has anyone seen an interface cable and software available?? Thanks

Actually, I am considering converting my SD TPI over to the RamJet if my "Miniram deal" falls out. I see no reason why the SD 730 ecm cannot be converted to the RamJet setup. Just need a vacuum connection for the MAP, turn EGR off, splice the wires for the IAC and TPS; and relocate the MAT to the front of the TB. Then just alter the VE tables based on what the engine wants by monitoring the INT with the BLM locked at 128. Might even be the swap of choice if you want Fastburn heads.
If GM had fuel rails readily available, I would be considering it now.
But I am currently committed to the Miniram, and going to continue with that for the time being; except if the deal falls apart.

Ok, Glenn so you are saying, instead of trying to reprog the mefi-3 controller, just use a 7730ecm and wiring harness?? That is an option I had not thought of, but my friend is buying a complete Ram-jet 350 crate motor and wants to keep the controller it comes with. I know AZ Speed and Marine will reprogram them, but its quite costly.

Sure, have him keep his stock unit and then experiment with programming a 730. I highly doubt that there is any hack available for the MEFI-3 out there (too new, too few), but frankly the programming won't be terribly different from a Miniram with AFRs and a ZZ9 cam IMO. Possibly a little tweaking, but the programming would be fairly close to start.
And to start from scratch is not terribly hard...just time consuming initially. The VE tables will have a different "shape" and values for the various KPA readings, but with a scan tool you can quickly figure out the "shape" and VE values from the BLM/INT.
The rest is just tweaking.
