pocket programmer

I am having trouble saving my buffer to disk so that tuner will reconize it. well first I down loaded the 88-86 bin to see if tuner was working and it is very well. but, some how I am not getting my chip to load wtf. any how what I did was I go to dos and open eprom(pocket programmer)then I selected the correct prom(27c256) then It puts you into the main menu where you can select functions. I select (4) this sends eprom to buffer. then I use (3) this checks and verifys eprom to buffer. and like excpected this is ok. then I select save buffer to disk. I save it to disk but, tuner gives errors. I serously doubt it is tuner if the other bins work. what am I doing wrong now? also I checked my setting and it is set binary

Just to recap, you have successfully saved the buffer to disk, but when you go to read the BIN with with TunerCat, it gives you an error?

If so, do this test, clear the buffer (move ff's) and then (L)oad the disk to buffer and redo the compare to the eprom.

BTW when you (S)ave buffer to disk, do not give it an extension. It automatically defaults to .BIN when you do it.

ok I hate to do it this way but, can you tell me step by step how to save the prom to disk. (how you do it)It has meen so long sence dos I don't know anything. I had to really think how to get back to c: after it was in a directory. I asked the company and they gave directions that would not work started telling me to press 2 then enter (as far as I gather that is for programming the prom. huh.

I guess the 87 tpi chip is bad! I got the $ff message again so I took my freinds hypertech chip for an 89 and saved that one now like I expected it says I need the $E6 OR 6E or what ever it says basically I can save them to the point where it reconizes it and knows it is an 89 file. rather than 87 and saying ff

Yes.. the 89 TPIs used the $6E where as the 87 used 32 (or 32B). Different eproms.
