Really Bad 502 Knock Count At Idle
so tonight in phoenix az its 105f right now and i did a datalogg because ive been having this problem with overheating so i figured i would datalog to verify if my temp gauge is accurate because my gauge would peg out at 260f with ac on so after tonight the most the coolant sensor read was 231f and thats with high speed and reving and ac. after a long datalogg at idle i started realizing i was getting 502 knock counts at idle after all the rhigh speed and rev. and i didnt here any knock or i couldnt because my exhaust is kinda loud. but is this good or bad. i can post the knock count log. im gust tired of all these inaccurate sensors. and i hope theres nothing wrong internally since this engine was mildly build about 25k miles.

I meant to post to this last night, forgot, it has been a crazy week. There is a good possibility that the 502 counts are from the engine starting. The starter engaging will be picked up as knock. Another item is that most calibrations ignore knock counts during idle conditions.
So even if knock is picked up during idle, the SA isn't retarded.
Do the counts keep increasing? If not I wouldn't worry about it.
As for overheating: fan on and blowing in the correct direction, air dam in place, correct water pump (serp setups use a reverse rotation pump), thermostat good, cleaned out the area between the A/C condensor and radiator, timing set correctly. . .
Are you buring your own PROMS (tune)?
RBob.

I've noticed you will get a few counts if you shut off the engine. The computer stays alive a few seconds after the key is shut off to reset the IAC, and I always see knock when the engine stops turning.
