sensor values

hey guys i am posting this here because The guys that visit this board are more knowlageable about tuneing useing the computer. I just bought auto x-ray. I am getting 3 degrees of knock retard as soon as i tip in the throttle and after that i get no knock retard. my o2 sensor voltage is at a constant 852 @wot i get only 4 knocks on a 0-80 mph run. Do you guys think i can get away with more timing and fuel? or should i keep it conservative. Does this sound right to you guys? I am thinking that my fuel and timing is really conservative. also what tuneing software do you guys use? I am thinking of burning my own proms here pretty soon. i think that i could get a good bit more power with a better idol. oh BTW the roller rockers had to be returned i had push rod to head interference.

When testing for WOT you need measurements, guessing will get you in trouble. You have to do what the engine wants, not what you think it wants. Even a stop watch is better then guessing

there is freeware ie winbin
GMEPro that is nice since it runs on cheap laptops, and tunercat that needs win 95+

there are lots of way to tune out that tip in detonation, but you need to be doing some ship work to get it right.

I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but what I did was to tune my WOT 02 readings first by raising my fuel pressure. This will help until you get into programming.

I am trying to remember, but I think the ideal WOT 02 range is between 920 & 945, but your motor may want different as was suggested above. What do you have your base timing set at?

Set your base timing back to stock and do some back to back 1/4 mile runs, increasing your FP each time until you start running slower or your 02 reading gets too high, then back it off to your previous setting. Also, the grade of fuel you are using during testing will affect your results somewhat, but this will get you in the ballpark.

Then check your knock retard and see what is happening.
