What is it called?

Hello All! I have the 1227730 ECM. But when I opened it up to see the PROM all there was is a long slot (like a Dimm slot in a computer) There must be a piece that the PROM plugs into then inserts into this slot.
Can anyone tell me what this piece is called and were can I get one? I will be ordering a PROM burner, eraser and EPROM,s soon. Need to be able to insert that EPROM right?

Thanks,
Chris

it is called a Memcal & if you do a search you on memcal, i bet you will find the GM part number. you ought to be able to goto your local GM dealer & pick one up (although he might have to order it for you. I think that you can order them from GM on line, bet someone here has a link.

if i am not mistaken, any V8 memcal (for a 7730) will work, 'specially if you are going to burn your own proms.

Since the ESC is on the 7730 MEMCAL, it seems to me you should use one that came from an engine of the same displacemnet.

I may be all wet here but i dont think that it matters. I think that any V8 7730 memcal will work in any 7730. certainly you have to have a V8 one, as it has basically a cyl select that goes to the chip that controls timing.
