How do I save Data with Diacom?
I'm just starting to use diacom and I tried it out on my brother in-laws tbi truck and it linked up good and we watched it for a while then I saved the dat as a buffer, tranlated it to dbf format and took a look at it with excel and it only saved 30 odd cells of info, so we took some more and there ll the same the all stop after the same number of cells. What's going on? Has this happened to you guys before?

Check your Configure to ensure you are using LPT2 and that you max memory size is high enough. You should be able to store 7000-8000 frames, depending on how your computer's memory is configured.
Also, ensure that the space bar is the trigger. I found other keys didn't work as well.

Glenn under my options window there is one called capture memory and it's set at 393440 bytes, which isn't very much, and I think thats the problem, but I can't figure out how to change it. Do you know how?
Thanks

Once again, if you want real data logging, drop Diacom and use my program. It'll give you LOTS of data FAST! Everything coming off the ECM straight to disk, no time or file size limit, no cost, what else do you want?

You have to go into configure and move the menu bar or whatever over to [len] this sets the length of record. One other thing you have to remember is that a tbi ecm puts out a very slow data stream compared to a tpi ecm. I recorded some data from my lo3 rs for a good five to seven min. and only captured about 300 frames so I hope your lap top has a good battery.

Battery is no problem, get a DC/AC power invertor that connects to the cigarette lighter. That is how I power my notebook.
CB, not to be a bad guy, but let me see if I got this straight. You have pirated software and you want us to help you getting it to work? I must inform you that software piracy is not condoned on this board and you may well get flamed for this.

Thanks I think I've got it figured out. When I start up diacom it says that I need a special adapter to get the hiph speed data. But since I bought a used laptop with diacom installed on it, rinda won't sell me a cable so I built my own, now I doubt they will sell me an adapter. Does anyone know what the adapter does? what inside it?
Thanks
Thanks
Hey I didn't pirate any software. I just took advantage of the fact that the software was there when I bought the laptop. It's not like I went out and copied the program, from some paying customer. I bought a laptop with the intention of using Craigs software and when I recieved it diacom was present. Hmmmmm should I build this cable for 10 bucks and utilyze this awsome program or just delete. If you don't think this is appropriate, its no big deal, just delete it.

The reason Rinda won't sell you the cable is because the person that sold you the computer kept the software registered to himself. If he had sold you the registration, then he should have also sold you the cables.
So while "piracy" may seem to be a harsh term, the fact remains that you do not have valid software registered to yourself.
Those "crack" cables are questionable. On some vehicles they work, on others they don't. MAF cars seem to have the worst luck with the "crack" cables.
Even though I have a registered version of Diacom Plus, I am seriously considering Craig's software because I have requirements that exceed Diacom's use. I am looking for "free volatile RAM" and I need to "peek" at all the various RAM addresses available to find some that are "free". Craig's software appears to be the only real solution for me to do this quickly.
Also, if I become comfortable with Craig's source code, I can see advantages to Craig's software for "tracing" and "debugging" my changes to the eprom.

I understand your believe that you thought you purchased the software along with the hardware: most people believe the same thing when they buy a used computer that is pre-loaded with software. Until they have a problem and find out the seller didn't give the original install disks.
The real problem is the guy who sold you the computer.

Not to jump on the bandwagon but I also agree with Glen about not getting the software with the laptop. When I bought mine the seller wanted to know if I want him to load some of the programs he had on to the computer and then keep the original disc for himself. I politly said no thanks and bought it with the dos and windows 3.1 and a couple of other prog he just gave me. Hope you can get Craigs software up and running good.
