IAT part # or year make model
IAT part # or year make model
adding IAT sensor to my 8746 with EBL/Prominator. 8746 platform for chev uses 89-92 F-B cars. i assume same part # for all?
using a 7.4 L TBI with standard round AC(2.0 in. x 14 in.). so thinking a IAT is a good idea considering i am sucking warm air. the stock crossfire hood on an 1984 vette does provide a cold air passage to feed prior CF air cleaner so i am getting some fresh air directly to each side of standard AC. but that is minimal. yup i know i need cold air ducting. that is coming another day once i locate a bonnet or fab one..
should i place the IAT within the AC or attach it to bottom of AC unit? or alternative location in engine compartment?

I have an open element that sits in my 4 inch cowl hood. So I put my IAT right on the airfilter, so it sees the air coming in whene I am driving. The temp of the air still rises at idle and slow speeds, but when I am going faster it draws air from the scoop, and over the IAT. I feel it is a more accurate representation on the air temp the engine is seeing. But, if you have a flat hood, then I would just put it in the air cleaner. GM actually has one that goes into the aircleaner via a d hole similar to the pcv breather hole, and is held in with a clip.
thanks. i found a post regarding that in EBL. but the auto parts counter guy will ask year make model as always and then he gets confused when i try to explain. do you recall what application is the clip in variety? that would be easiest for me to work with.
