What Changes should I make to my Eprom?
What Changes should I make to my Eprom?
Okay I have my MAP conversion wired and ready to go.
I know I must make the following changes to my setup:
1.Disable VATS
2. Disable MAG VSS pin out
Now my next question is what do I do with the Cold Start Injector? I have not connected it to the 730 ECM I have just left it hanging unconnected insulated ofcourse.
Is that alright just to leave it unconnected or will I get error codes? Is there a way to disable the Cold start Injector in WinBin?
Any other opions if I should change anything. I am not doing this my self I have to go and see a friend to do it as I do not have an Eprom Programmer. I want to do it right the frist time and don't want to keep on going back to make changes.
The image I will be using is the Stock 1992 305 Z28 image from GM. I know I have a different Cam and all but it will have to do. will this effect my performance very much? I have a stock ROC 305 TPI. If anyone can give me any other changes I should make that would be great. But I don't know much about tables etc.
Thanks and keep on rocking

You will not get optimum performance by just copying a stock GM BIN for your 305, even on a stock motor. You must play with it (the more the better) to get the results you are hoping for. So, not to break your balloon, but if you think you can get right the first time, you are dreaming...sorry. It might run okay and perform reasonably well. But you MUST play with it if you want to get optimal results.
But, as an initial install, the stock GM memcal is not a bad place to start. But (as Grumpy would say), it takes about 100-200 burns to just get a handle on what your are doing.
I do suggest getting the $8D hac from GM ECM GUY so you know what is available to you and happening inside your eprom. Also, I would consider getting an AT29C256 Flash Prom to make erasing/re-programming faster and easier as you do not need an UV Eraser with a Flash Prom.
Regular Eproms (like the 27C256) can only be erased so many times before they become useless. Also, the more you erase them, the longer they start to take to get fully erased...until one day....it doesn't either erase properly or doesn't program properly.

Why do you have to disable Vats? None of the Corvette guys seem to do it. Is it an F-Body thing?

Glenn I know I will not get it to optimal performance the way I am doing it. Not even close to be honest. But I need the car running quite well and I think the stock GM imgae will be fine. It should run better than what it did when it was in open loop all the time. I hope I have fixed the open loop problem. I also don't have an eprom programmer so I can't play around with it like you say at the moment.
As with the Vats I don't know if Vettes had VATS??
