29C256 chips now programming

The old Toshiba 386 laptop is working like a charm now. Running DOS fileprom, it programs everytime. I even loaded the top half of the E-prom to run in my current 165 ECM and that even works great. I did though load it with a 32K FF.bin first to make sure the bottom half was erased. Fileprom needs an erase funtion to make sure the entire prom is erased so you don't have to load an FF.bin in first. There was a line in my config.sys file that was causing my problems. If your having problems, make sure all yoru powersaver features are disabled. In the Config.sys file on mine there is a line that enables a dos program called powrer.exe. REM it out. If it still does not work, it may be that there is something else in there causign the problem. Just lettign you know where to look but I can't tell you what to look for. Anyway, I'm happy its working.

I also have a copy of the windows version of the software. Like GMTech, I can program in a FF.bin fine but can't program in any bins. It starts to program and then errors out. I shut down all background programs and it stil errored out. I'm looking to update to a newer windows laptop so I can run Tunercat so I'm interested in any fixes for the windows version. The desktop is also a Gateway 233 PII that is now having problems Even more interesting is that running fileprom on the desktop, it programs the chips fine.

I am glad to hear that you finally got it to work, with FILEPROM at least. You should test if you can get away without needing the Hex FFs first. I found that FILEPROM programs fine without the HEX FFs, but it was my SD ecm that did not like it. Maybe you will find that you don't have this problem and it is unique to my ecm/car.

Also, I am using FILEPROM V3.55 while I believe you have FILEPROM V3.60.

As for the Windows Version, I guess we Toshiba users are going to have to play with it a bit. Unfortunately, I am very busy with work and I have to go out of town this week on a 1-2 week business trip so it may be a while before I actually get to play with the Windows Version.
