Building a Cable for Craig Motes software

i have the diagram but am unsure or all the symbols and where to get the parts. I can find the capacitors, resistors, and cig-lighter adapter at radio shack. Where can i pick up an aldl connector, and a Max 232 chip? Also what does the other end of this look like the diagram does not show it?(serial port/parallel port)What pins do i use on the xxx port adapter? As for the wierd symbols they sort of look like a triangle made of dashed lines?
Also how many pins does a stock chip have (i need a zif socket)

1) I got the max233 from www.maxim-ic.com.

2) It's a 9 pin serial port. The connector that you buy from Radio Shack or whatever should be numbered. If not, have a look at the max233 diagram on Craig's site.

3) The triangle made of dashed lines is the symbol for electrical ground... is that what you were talking about?

4) ZIF socket is described in Traxion's article.

Now for the ALDL connector, I haven't figured that out yet...
