wanting to start burning but ?s
ok ChrisEtemadi and I are ready to start burning our own chips. we want to go halfs on the equipment and stuff since we live close to each other and can help each other out and stuff.
here are the questions
I have an 87 (mass air) and he has a 91 (speed density)
does the programmer work for both setups or do we have to buy a separate programmer for each setup since our chips are different?
what software would work best with both our setups?
anythin else we would need to know is greatly appreciated
thanks
Andrew

You can both use the same prom. A 256 can be used where a 128 is but not vice versa. Either way the proms are physically the same externally and a prom programmer can handle many types of proms anyhow.

GMEPro, and Tunercat both make editors for both of those applications. GMEPro is DOS based and will run in cheapy laptops, and Tunercat needs a windows machine to run on.
I have both, and use them as outlined above

Ok so If we get the TunerCat we will have to buy 2 different editors ? and everything else will work?

Yup thats it, If you go with Tuner cat, you will only pay $20 bucks more. of course you will need more eeproms, I bought 5 for $35 bucks that included S&H.
I would HIGHLY recommend going with:
EEPROMS AT29C256 $5.++ ea + S&H
The Pocket programmer, $149.95 + ($6.00 S&H)
Tuner Cat (if your computer can handle it) $69.95
Tunercat's def files: ($6E or $32B) & $8D, $20 each
I recommend the AT29C256's because they are alot easier to program than the 27C256's. thats been what I have found...
I would HIGHLY recommend going with the $6E over the $32B, the REASON why is with the $6e you can get the '89 ARAP bin, I couldn't believe how nice it was even unmodified. Personally I bought both, just because I am that way.
