how to know when to adjust the spark map?
I'm now trying to see how to know when its proper to make changes to the spark map, I have a datalog thanks to DataMaster I can watch, I am just not sure what to look for, and then how to know what kind of changes to make? Should I first look for where I see spark retard? Find that cell map vs rpm, and Remove that much timing accordingly, or what? And like always, thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

Baby steps is the best way. Say your log has 3 degrees of retard a 3400-3550, I'd take 1 degree out from 3200 to 3600, and try again. Maybe next time It'll only show 1 degree, or less, retard at the same points. Knock begets knock, and encipient knock is the place to target.
Keep in mind that it's safer to be on the side of a little less knock, than a little more knock.

It also takes more retard to get rid of knock once you have it than the reduction of timing that started it. Try not to cure knock by flooding it with fuel as well. You'll just miss the tune altogether.
Its a back and forth thing that can try your patience if going too fast at it.
Once it is running good, try reducing the spark at a certain point and see if it makes a noticable difference or if it feels flat somewhere try adding a little.
Keep the tables reletively smooth so you don't induce surges from large transitions.
