[/B][/QUOTE]If I were you and your not sure I would contact TunerCat(e-mail)Tell them what car have ,ask them what file you need to be able to edit your promm. There pretty good when it comes to support. The pocket programmer is all you should need.Don't forget about spare chips, and eraser if you don't go with flash promm.Hope this helps a little.

While the FBods used the 165 till 89 they used several different Prom Masks, generally the later the better so in your case you want a TDF for a 6E, rather then the 87 MY version. But there are some changes you need to make. This has been covered many times, and a search and reading old post will fill in the blanks, and add considerably to what you need to know.
same with using the eeproms. All the experinces are here for asking (searching).

If you remove the stock EPROM and install an EEPROM instead, you won't need an eraser.. This is because the programmer can do the erasing itself, as opposed to the EPROMs which must be exposed to ultraviolet light to be erased.

I don't think there's any "tricks" for erasing an EPROM without an eraser.. Well, other sources of UV light might suffice, but you probably won't get good results!
