Another EGR related question with the 165>>

Okay I am using an ARAP variation on my 89 Vette. it is the $6E code.

I was given the info that hex 247 is for EGR. Crrently it is set for 1E, so I changed just that variable to FF and burned a PROM and stuck it in the car. Well, When I tried to start the car.. when I turn the key to the on position.. the electric fans kick on (this is the first sign of abnormality). As soon as I start the car I get a SES light. if I put the old PROM in it works fine. I tried burning 2 other PROM's with the new change in case the first was bad..well same problem.

One thing I noticed on the "Tuner Made" PROM I have is that there is 2 wires running from power and ground of the PROM to a different Location on the Memcal and they have location 247 set to FF and their PROM works fine.. (no SES Light)in my car.

Is there another way around this? if not I will modify one of the spare MemCals I have for that type of set-up but I really need to disable the EGR..

Thanks

Did you just change the one location, or did you also calculate a new checksum? If you didn't caclulate a new checksum, that's likely your problem.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a bin editor like Tunercat or Winbin?

I know the EGR variables are included in the latest 6E definition for Winbin....
