what is up wiht the shift light
what is up wiht the shift light
what is with the shift light im my car I have a stock 88 MAF TPI on my 86 350
I also have a 5spd
the light tells me to shift way too much. like doing 30 in 4rth @ 1000 rpm i give it gas is says shift. can i move the thing to a more resonable rpm range or am I stuck using the hammer on the bulb fix
------------------
1986 IROC 350 5spd
just installed a TPI from a 1988 IROC, 24# lt1 injectors,165 ECM MAF, custom sub frame

The shift lite is controlled by the computer, hence, there is no adjustment. The computer tells you to shift for maximum gas mileage, so, it will usually want you to shift at very low RPM. The hammer will work VERY well.
Have fun.

I cannot say where the parameters are in the $32 (or $32B.TDF) (1986-88 MAFs), but I know where they are in the 6E.TDF (89 MAF) and $8D.TDF (90-92 SD).
They are adjustable, but there wasn't room in the .TDFs from TunerCat. But now that they have created the new version that supports more constants and tables, they might be willing to add them.

Glenn,
Could you, would you, post the locations and descriptions of the parameters for 6E? I would like to edit the bin to turn that light off.
Thanks,
Kevin

My $32 code has several locations to play with the shift light. Here are two:
$C2D8 - Threshold for lite on /25
Default is $28h = 40d x 25 = 1000 RPM
$C2D9 - Force lite on /25
Default is $B0 = 176d x 25 = 4400 RPM

For $6E, these are the parameters for the Shift Light. Have fun.

I changed mine to come on above 2400 RPMs, and forced on at 5100 RPMs. Its great.
I really hope Tunercat adds it for TPI and TBI cars. I emailed him a while ago and he said there wasnt enough interest for him to add it.

Old topic, I know.
Kevin, How'd ya manage to get it to come on only at a certain RPM?
I see a !shift in winbin of 5200, but the On/Off tables are RPM vs TPS. For racing applications, TPS would be maxed out (WOT) at any given RPM.
