730 tuning with Craigs software
730 tuning with Craigs software
Well I had my first go tuning my 730 using Craig Moates software - awesome scantool !
I am a bit lost though on the BLM cell as it appears to use the same cell 4 for idle and some of the higher rpm stuff as well and it drops in and out of different cells without the map voltage or rpm changing ??
Are the actual cells relevent or do you just tune to the BLM ? to achieve 128.
Is there any calculation for map voltage to kpa so that I know what map value to adjust ?
Is there any calculation software like ve master that works with the 730 ?
Sorry for all the questions but I have only just got this vehicle and its a lot different to my previous ride that used a map version of the 165.

KPA Volt
16 .30
20 .54
25 .75
30 1.08
35 1.32
40 1.65
45 1.80
50 2.10
55 2.44
60 2.65
65 2.98
70 3.20
75 3.50
80 3.80
85 4.10
90 4.35
95 4.55
100 5.00
103 5.02 (we're actually under sea level in SoFLa)
Some of these values I couldn't get exactly so I did like the ecm and interpolated. Take these numbers FWIW as I don't think they should be set in stone.

I will take some readings from another car and see what matches and what doesn't. These readings were taken by a Snap On MT2500 scanner. It shows map and baro readings in kpa and volts. If only they would divulge that information. I have a semi working ecm bench and a vacuum pump but I couldn't get the map to work. I wish it were an exact thing but like I said I kinda interpolated some values I couldn't get exactly. I did notice there that it kind of went up .3 volts per 5 kpa.

I've been using your ECM845 program on a SD system for about a week now. I'm using Excel to sort the data and use the above formula to convert the voltage for kPa MAP readings. I'm sneaking up on the ideal 128/128 but it's a slow process.
Do you intend to integrate the formula into your program when you verify it? Also, check your PP account.
hectorsn, those values seem pretty close to the MT2500 I'm using but Craig's program allows MUCH easier tuning with the data capture.

No doubt Craig's software is much better and the price is much better than the "red brick"! But did you know that SnapOn has software that enables you to hook the brick up to a lap top and do pretty much what Diacom and those guys do. It's somewhere along the lines of $400 which doesn't seem unreasonable. I'm sure if Craig had the time he would put it in, but since the formula works out well and you have to put the data in excel anyhow..... Maybe for the next update.
I've been tuning using Craig's software, calculating KPA as [(MAP*100)/5] where MAP is the reported MAP sensor voltage output.
Opening the CSV file in Excel, I just add a column and insert the formula above into it across the whole capture.

Did I put that into 845? I forget. I thought I put the kPa calc in there then. Someone refresh me.
If it needs to go in, lemme know and it'll go. Might be time for a revision. Any suggestions for other functionalities?

Craig, can you add the IAC counts to the list of data on Item (or whatever it's called) 4? I know it's recorded when the data is logged and I think it's under the label ISSPMP. Other than that, great job!
Oh, this is for the '165 ECM.
