Zeitronix users please read

I have had my zeitronix for a year or more now and its been relatively trouble free.
From day one I have datalogged TPS and MAP along with RPM and obviously AFR.
A few weeks ago, the 'Z' started upsetting the TPS signal to the ECM and made the car run badly. I disconnected the TPS signal from the Z box and all was well again..

Today it started acting up again, and this time its the MAP input causing the trouble..

Has anyone else had this problem, or know why it happens and how to avoid it???

TIA,
Ben.

Ben......IIRC Dominic first reported this and ended up disconnecting those items. I know it was at least the tps. He and myself are both running the EBL. I had mine wired in also at the time but had not noticed any problems yet. After his report I disconnected mine since they are redundant with the EBL. I'm sure Dominic will read this and chime in.

I do know of one other guy on the crossfire forum who had the issue, but I didn't know that Dominic did also.

It must be a ground loop or similar.. I will have another play with it tomorrow and try to eliminate it..

Ok, I just fixed the problem. It IS a ground loop of some sort..
You must ground one of the brown 'sensor ground' wires at pin 8 or 11.

When I initially installed the Z box I wondered if this was necessary. I checked continuity between the brown wires and the units black ground wire at pin 7 and it was zero ohms, so I figured there was no point, as the brown was already connected to ground as soon as you power the box up... Looks like I was wrong!

Very happy!! I was just about to ditch the box and buy another brand..

Ben,

I have disconnected those sensors from the ZT-2 controller but it would be nice for them to show up on the display again. Where did you ground it? And are you able to explain why it has worked for a year and THEN started to screw up the signals. After our conversation, I hooked up the Power and Ground wires to the ECM power and ground eliminating the need to plug the sensor into the cigarette lighter.

I can't explain why it has only started now, unless its a result of my constant tinkering. I have just hooked up the 0-5v WB output, so maybe that screwed with the ground reference?? Who knows?!?!? It didn't matter to which ground I connected the brown wire. For the first test, while running datamaster and seeing the TPS flickering between 0 and 9%, I held the brown wire against the cigarette lighter bezel, being the closest ground at the time and it instantly fixed the issue. For my setup, it was most convienient to connect it to the ecm case, so thats where I have left it and the TPS and MAP are now rock solid.
If yours is playing up, its worth trying!

EBL has 3 additional grounds I could use.
