Verify failed - emulating with autoprom

Need some quick help here. Although an upload tells me it is successful, I can't get it to verify. Using:

6E bin
165 ECM
Autoprom
27sf512 chip

I'm sure that it is something simple. Can someone help?

Thanks!

Is the emulation header plugged into the ECM? If so, try turning your key on (engine off), then upload and verify.

Re: Verify failed - emulating with autoprom

On mine, I have to upload and verify BEFORE plugging the Autoprom into the ECM or it will fail every time.

It will fail even key-on when plugged into the ECM? If so, you might want to contact Craig. That's might not be desireable (this means your incremental changes during emulatoin might be failing as well).

It seems to work when I change the timing.

Re: Verify failed - emulating with autoprom

I have the same, Autoprom emulation on a 165 ecm and $6E code.

I think the only time Ive had it fail the verify is when its plugged into the ECM by the ribbon cable. I fixed it once by unpluggin it and since then ive just always unplugged it rather than figure out why. Soon I want to figure out why so I can do the incrimental changes while the car is running like Mangus mentioned.

Now, it uploads and then fails the verify step.. But im not sure if that means the info on the chip is ok or if it is bad. I am only assuming that the info on the chip is not correct.

It's hard to say whether the data on the emulator is bad when the verify fails. You shouldn't see verification failures when the key is on with the ribbon plugged in. If you do, then there could either be noise on the ribbon (try a shorter one, try insulating it, etc), or a problem with the hardware.
