After T56 install, need throttle follower help - aujp.

After t56 install car almost stalls when decelerating just after pushing in clutch.. I am using AUJP bin, prefer not to switch to Manual bin now after years of tuning this combo... Just to much to switch over now..

I am sure its an IAC problem, just don't really know where to start with it.

It drives great other than a little bucking at low rpm 1500 and below, most of which is due to the 248/252 solid roller.. Any help appreciated..

Most likely DFCO settings.

Also its easy, get a 6spd vette bin or a 5spd F car bin and check out their IAC/follower settings.

Worked great for me on a american iron 305 5 spd car this week.

Hmm,
Forgot about those - I may even have it disabled..
Should I just disable if its not or raise RPM to re-enable?

Happen to know the vette 6 spped bin off hand?

Thanks,
TK

AXXD is an equivalent manual BIN for a 305 5spd car F-body car.

The vette BIN's will need a few things disabled, the oil temperature sensor input/error code come to mind.

I used AXXD when I converted my AUJP car to a T56.

How do you disable the oil temp on the Vette Bin?

I looked in TunerproRT and don't see it readily apparent....
I found it, Looks like it's at Location 24c Bit1 for hi temp and Bit 7 for low temp.

Thanks guys,
Well played with DFCO - thought for sure that was it but it was not, then played a little with throttle follower as manual bins were not that much different. Then the problem jumped out at me while looking at scanner while driving, noticed IAC counts were really high at idle 130ish!! and TPS at .4, I guess while pulling engine from other body (now totaled 87) the chain was on throttle shaft and actually bent the back stop a little closing throttle blades.. So when throttle would quickly return to idle it would take a second or 2 for IAC to catch up and keep idle alive.. Got it back to 0-10 range and all is perfect..
Also made some strides in fuel mileage and smooth cruising.. After looking at timing table, I had some sharp jumps in timing table that you would never see with auto and loose converter.. I also control PE fuel and timing from main tables as opposed to pe enrichment and spark adder.. so my fuel was all the same from 80-100 kpa, well now with manual I hit 80 kpa all of the time.

So smoothed that out some..

Hm, I have the same problem, only with auto. I've tweaked and tweaked TF params, and can't seem to get it right, but now that you mention, I dind't think of it, but my IAC counts are usually 120-130 I think...I'll check it out, thanks for the heads up.

If you dont have the speedometer hooked up and converted correctly to a signal the TPI computer can use, it will stall on you like that, as well.

Hi 87_TA,
This sound just like my existing problem. I have a 91 Trans Am, 5.0 TPI, 5speed manual. The car somtimes stalls when decelerating just after pushing in clutch, when driving aggressively. It feels like the AIC is not keeping up. When I drive the car gentley and accelerate/decelerate slowly, all is fine. What do you mean "got it back to 0-10 range and all is perfect.." and how did you do it?

Please help, thanks...

Sergio,
You will need a scanner to monitor IAC counts - They are displayed in numbers from 0 to 160 max I believe.
With car warm idling, you want to moonitor thses counts. They should be between 5-30 range.. if they ate 0, then you will need to close throttle blades some with car off, check your TPS voltage also with scanner or volt meter after re-adjusting throttle position to ensure its around .5 -.6.
Restart car and repeat until you have desired counts.

87_TA
Are you saying that the TPS sensor setting affects the IAC? I have check it and it is with in .5 -.6, my 91 TPI does not really have adjustment on the TPS. What kind of a scanner do I need to monitor the IAC counts? Can you recommend one?

No,
When you change the home position of the throttle blades, it will change home position of the TPS being its attached to it. So it need readjusted back to .5-.6 - in other words if you adjust your throttle blades open 1/8 of an inch (just example) then your tps will always think you are applying 1/8 throttle though thats your idle.

Any kind.. I have an Auto X-Ray and laptop, you can also use a laptop, build or buy a cable and use freeware or buy scanning/datalogging software.

or simply rent a scan tool from advanced auto with their tool loaner program..
