383 Stroker- should I get a new chip before breaking it in?

Hey guys,
I am building a 383 stroker for my Camaro right now and it will be quite modified (LT1 Intake, 24lb injectors, 52mm throttle body, 230*/234* .528"/.539" cam, Trickflow aluminum heads, no A.I.R., no EGR...). I am wondering if breaking the motor in with the stock chip has any potential to damage the motor? I want to get into chip burning, but not sure I have the time right now. Any input or advice? Thanks

Andy

From what I've learned so far you could probably get it up and running with the stock chip. Anything after that you should really be adjusting your spark tables, VE tables and injector tables. As far as damaging anything my fear is you'd be running way to lean or way to rich. I'm in almost the exact same boat you are right now, brand new everything and new to tuning.

You'll be hard pressed to damage anything at idle, if the tune is really off I wouldn't drive it very far. I'm assuming it has a roller cam so there really isn't any "break-in" that needs to be done other getting the rings seated. So I would fire the engine off just so you can start logging and tuning. You'll break the rings in during the tuning process.
