Will 730 ECm work with Painless 60115 VSS?
OK, I've searched the archives and I have found half of the info I need but not all to get the VSS to work. I have removed the original inputs for the 4 pulse VSS from the ECM connectors and from what the archive says I just need to feed one wire to the ECM at C6 using the 2 pulse per mile sensor. Which I did but that didn't work as ECM852 is still showing my MPH as 0. I have the VSS Bit 6 switched off in Tuner Pro to indicate that I am not using a magnetic VSS. Is there anything I missed? When I hooked the VSS to the 730 harness I just hooked one to yellow and the other to purple. I had read it didn't matter which way the wires went. So now I connected the yellow to C6 and that didn't work so I was going to try to connect the purple to C6 and see if that worked. I've probably read over 100 threads out of 505 found with VSS in the title. Sorry but if anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks

That's the sensor I bought by mistake.

i think that speed sensor is magnetic.
i don't think it matters which way you have it wired, but both wires do need to be hooked up to the ECM & you should be able to use the same 2 pins in the ECM as what the factory did.
once you get it to work, you'll need set the VSS pulse rate so the ECM sees a speed reading thats close to how fast you are going.

I will call painless tomorrow to confirm. I was just looking through the archives again and found post stating that one wire (from the VSS) goes to the ECM and the other wire is grounded. Well I didn't ground the other wire. So that may be the answer.

on a 730 they both go to the ECM, purple to B9 & yellow to B10

OK, I think I got the VSS hooked up correctly now. I know that on a 730 with a magnetic VSS they use the yellow and purple wires as you stated but I bought the early TPI/TBI VSS. This speed sensor uses 1 wire to go to the ECM and the other gets grounded. My problem was that I did correctly route 1 wire to pin C6 which is where the ECM looks for a 2 PPM input but the other wire from the VSS needs to be grounded (which I didn't do). I just verified this by jacking the car up and hooking up some leads to the VSS wires. Leaving everything as I had it wired there was no change on the ohm meter setting when I rotated the drive wheels. But by grounding the yellow wire and leaving the other wire (purple) connected to pin C6 I got a singal of 1.193K ohms every few revolutions of the wheel. So hopefully now the ECM will see MPH.

I used 60116 on my 730....
I was surprised to see that it's gone up 28 bucks since August 2004. Anyway, here's a link:
