Minimum LV8 to enable power enrichment

Ok im confused here, what is Minimum LV8 to enable power enrichment setting. It is currently set at 50. Is this the preverbal accelerator pump shot. I am trying to tweak a $6e bin and I have a off idle dead spot.

Re: Minimum LV8 to enable power enrichment

Well, Im no expert but i can explain a little. Other than the regular open loop or closed loop modes, there is Power Enrichment (PE) and Acceleration Enrichment (AE). In carb terms, AE is like the pump shot and PE is like the secondary bores kicking in. AE adds fuel when the throttle is suddenly opened. PE adds fuel when you are near WOT (theres a table stating how close to WOT is needed).

The Min LV8 to Enable PE is set to 50 in my $6E bin also, and 50 is a low LV8 so i think you can ignore this in most cases. A more important thing to look at is the table Min %TPS to Enable PE, youll see it varies based on RPM. Only over the indicated %TPS will the PE mode be active.

If your off idle dead spot is during a quick punch to the throttle, theres a good chance its related to the AE stuff. Unfortunately thats where I cant help ya yet, i havnt dug into and played with AE yet.

Hope that helps some though.

PE is most like the power valve, power piston in a carb. It richens the A/F mixture, advances the timing, often kicks out the torque converter clutch, and eliminates the drag from the a/c compressor by disengaging the a/c clutch relay.

I like to think of it as the secondaries of a four barrel kicking in.

If you have never tried this, experiment with it kicking in at lower throttle/rpm settings; so you kicks in a quite easily in a low TPS in the mid rpm area. That is when you can notice it actually having an affect (without having it really booted).

There is no rule prohibiting "experimentation", in fact, it is often how you find out what a particular constant/table really does.
