Timing to much to little??
Hey just a quick question. Im just wondering what is an acceptable amount of knock counts under say WOT?? In winaldl when fully warmed up I will get around 25 to 30 total counts. I will have a few 1-2-3 counts in the highmap/load area's in certain rpms and not much more than that. Although under free rev, in nuetral i can get up to 60 counts total and 10 to 11 in certain area's. IS this normall. I know that 99% of driving you wont be fee reving without a load but just wanted to confirm my thought's. I would think that I am safe but any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

Re: Timing to much to little??
Free rev knock is strange, unless it's just from too much timing at low RPMs. That, and maybe some tip-in knock eliminator might help.
I actually just wrote some dMAP spark retard, dTPS spark filter, and light throttle dRPM surge retard softwares for our (not gm) system (wrote this morning, tested this afternoon - gotta love C). High dMAP retards for tip in knock elimination, and torque-jerk reduction. Without MAP prediction, the sensor and RC and sw filter lag can give you more advance than what the TRUE MAP in the manifold would want at high dMAPs. MAP prediction is on my to do list.
