7747 AE 80%???

Hey all im just wondering if it is normall on a tbi mildly modded-cam/intake headers ignition etc motor to have to more than double the Dmap Ae at 80% wich is as high as it goes to more than double the stock setting?? It accells good at most throttle positions but from a dead stop, If i stomp on it I will get a lean bog then it goes. It is getting better dramatically but Im over double what the stock setting was. Is this normall??? Thanks for any help!! Sorry 7747 ecm $42.

Some manifolds will need TREMENDOUS ammounts of AE. I actually upgraded my injectors and increased my pressure so I could meet the AE demands when its cold out.

Re: 7747 AE 80%???

Ok thank Dimented once again. Just wanted to make sure that this is the right thing to do. I guess I will keep increasing it further. Now with 61lbhr injectors at 20psi Is there going to be a limit on when they will not flow enough for off idle Ae. Example my stock bin had just over 1800 in the 80kpa range and I am now over 3700 in that area. How far can I go and still be safe??

Re: 7747 AE 80%???

i am still confused as to whether one should lean more heavily to TPS AE vs MAP AE. I really dont understand the "qualifiers" that invoke the AE routine. Fortunately Whats Up has a flag when AE is involked and same on PE. very nice and thank you.

there is the obvious of a change in % TPS over a set period off time. a gradual roll on of the throttle will not set off a AE event. Yet a rapid tip in of throttle will. OK we all know that.

Will a change of MAP that will have to occur on the TPS AE also add to the AE event? If so then we are seeing two seperate events at same time? But at differing places in the tables? I think it was(Grumpy?) once said you can have a AEMAP event without AEMAP. Like up an steep incline with steady throttle and rapid change in MAP. So to address your issue which table gets the changes and how much? I guess take notes as to what is in your .bin make a change and witness the results. Make small changes and continue to porur on the fuel. Having smaller injectors is a plus for you as you have adjustabily in AE. Looking at the WB logs are helpfull but they do not offer a "seat of pants" real time result. I read once early Edelbrock TBI only used TPS AE?

Not sure if RPM modifier that I have in EBL is also an adder? I will assume it is and I did add AE specifically at the RPM I saw a need for more AE fuel. Seemed to help. Now the 2400-2600 RPM bog is intermittant. If fact on long drive this AM( 60d F) I saw no issues as perfect AE 2000-280-0 rpms area and then next time same conditions went over the top rich(WB). I am now thinking irrespective of the coolant temp my intake temp varies(Holley Projection)? I added IAT sensor input but found it was defective so just now replaced. Issue is my laptop crapped out so cannot log VE learn and confirm IAT is working. Today XP is on my new lappy so up and running finally.

Re: 7747 AE 80%???

Ok so im pretty sure that I fixed my Wot from a stand still last night. Increased my mapae a little more in the 80% range. THen went back and increased my TPSAe slightly in the 12.5 to 25% range. Also had to increase my coolantvsAE table slightly. Now if I only had some dry pavemant to see if it will light the tires in the dry LOL. Thanks guys!!!!

WHO HOO!!! finally dry pavemant and it will light both tires for a short period and then lay 40ft of rubber with one!! Not bad for a mild small block with 3.08gears. Its also a pickup and weighs about 4600to4800 with me in it. God I love getting things right!! LOL Love that TBI

Re: 7747 AE 80%???

90, I'm checking in late on this one, but the commercial chip I have for my L03/305 increased the TPS AE substantially over the stock settings. The 3.1% setting was increased by a factor of around 2.5, 6.5% by a factor of around 5 and 9.4% and 12.5% by a factor of around 5, with a setting of 11,230.47 usec at 12.5%.

This did help the car quite a bit, with the stock chip (a California smog car) the car would not take the throttle well at all and was a drag to drive and its much better with the replacement chip.

I eventually plan to redo the chip with a WB O2 sensor, so it will be interesting to see if the commercial chip went too rich on the AE. The MAP AE settings were about the same in the stock and commercial chips.

Re: 7747 AE 80%???

I think that the general aftermarket chips tend to go on the rich side of things because they generaly add to much timing and then cover up the knock's by adding to much fuel. Any how thanks for the other info!!
