ALDL V6 definition file needed for 730 ecu
I have a problem with ALDL communications using TunerProRT and the 1227730_V6_90-92.ads definition file for the 1227730 ECU on a 3.1L. I am using the Moates AUTOPROM hardware, a $88 bindef and a ARPM BIN with the 1227730_V6_90-92.ads definition file from Mark Mansur. Data is is being received but for some reason it is logging errors on every packet. Anyone have a tried and true for the Autoprom and a V6 730 ECU?

I'm pretty sure others have had success with monitoring the 90-92 V6 vehicles, but I'm curious to see them sound off in this thread.
Have you tried the definition you have with the AutoProm in passthrough mode?

I have not tried in pass-through mode. I am getting data though, and that's what has me confused. The error count is continuing to climb as long as I have the ALDL in the connected mode. I did just look at the data stream on the screen with a standard uart interface and the data is certainly being transmitted. That's where I can't quite understand what is going on.

You might not be getting data, though. The error count could be because a request for data to the ECM isn't being replied to. Unfortunately the ALDL code in TunerPro leaves lots to be desired, and it's not smart about what it considers a "connection."
You might try importing the ADS you have into scannerpro (www.scannerpro.net) and give it a shot with the AutoProm in passthrough mode.

Now there is something that makes sense. I would have assumed a handshake would be the trigger for turning on the ALDL Connected state flag. Let me check out this avenue as it makes more sense than some of the other "theories" I was supposing.

Well; That was it alright! Thanks for the lead. Got some paradigm paralysis again. That's what happens when your over 50. To let every one know what happened, I hooked up with EFILiveV4 to watch the chatter. And there was plenty of it. Then I went back to the Autoprom and set it in hardware mode. (MAX232) Off she went. Got what I needed and was able to make my final adjustments to the timing and fuel. I still can't connect the ALDL when running in emulation. Just won't hook up for some reason so there is a bug to fix. Maybe later.
