Tunerpro RT W Moates cable not working??
I got TunerproRT and a Moates ALDL cable to datalog my 1989 TPI and it will not do anything. Its driving me crazy I have read everthing I can in the tunerpro help files and the readme files on Moates driver disc I've gone over everything three times, tried setting it up every way I can think of in preferences and set-up nothing I do will connect tunerpro to my cars computer I just get the ALDL: not connected on the bottom left corner. The best I can get out of it is, it will try to connect then say connection failed. any advice would be helpfull.

Do you get a "Cable found and functioning" message when you click the "test for cable using settings" button?

I get "Cable not found or not functioning" I just went out and tried it again and got the same thing I try changing eevrything I can think of and still get the same thing. I think its looking for a serial port. I installed moates usb driver so I would think that would help its just hard to tell, all the driver does is say it was installed sucsesfully real quick.

I don't know. I wouldn't know how to tell all my computer has is 3 usb ports a phone line plug and the internet thing that looks like a phone line. I have tried just pluging the ALDL into one usb port and setting Tunerpro up for com1 thru com8 and still get the same thing.

Since you are getting the error pop up, you will not be able to datalog until TP RT sees the cable initially.
Do this:
Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device manager
Look under the com port settings and you should see which com port the cable is connected to when plugged in. Use this com port in TP RT.
Sounds like you have an older version of TP RT as well, the newer versions support up to 255 com ports. You may need to download the newer version, as your cable might be set on a com port higher than 8.

Re: Tunerpro RT W Moates cable not working??
Six_Shooter, Thank you so much, I did what you said and it sent me on the right path to figure this out. I'm not even totally sure what I did but after messing with it for 45 mins I saw that it was on com7 it wasn't when I started but after playing with alot of stuff it showed up that way. I tried agian and it worked finally, Thanks agian I've been working on this car for more than a year now I built the motor and programmed the chip now I'll be starting it for the first time.
Good to hear you have it working.
